My iphone3G was abysmally slow after I upgraded to firmware 4. I had not set it up as "new" when I first downloaded the software( ignoring the advice of many on the list). Since then i freted and fumed. Finally today I bit the bullet and "restored" and "set it as new".Well I lost the data in many apps :-(. But suddenly its no longer slow. Its as good as it was when on 3.0.

Upgrade had many issues.It us always bet to do new install.
You can always restore apps and music etc..
