what to do if the shift key on the keyboard stops working? I looked up in apple support but all I found out is yes, it isn't working.

Is it not working at all, in any app / program, etc? Is it both shift keys or just one? If just one isn't working and it is under warranty take it to an Apple store - if it isn't then it may be time to buy a new one. If it is both try calling Apple Support. Keyboards/mice/etc don't last forever.
