My Nike-iPod application does not sense my movements and keeps on asking me to move around.

The newest version is called Nike+GPS and does not require special shoes or sensor.

Yes - there is an App to buy that uses only the phone (now that it has every sensor possible) and there is the built in Nike+ that can be turned on and off that requires the shoe fob.

I thought the Nike+GPS was the replacement app. Didn't realize there were to different things.

Yup, all iPhones and iPod touches have Nike + option in settings built in or
you can buy the app and never use built in.
