There are now rumors of an LTE capable iPhone in the hands of Verizon to be released after Christmas.
Sounds hopeful and promising.

what is a LTE device -----
LTE stands for Long-Term Evolution.
It is based on a standard called 3GPP Release 8.
It is considered a 4G technology because it is faster than 3G and entirely
IP-based, where voice is treated as data.

Yeah...I read that in the wall street journal too. It was wrapped around an article that AT&T service in NYC was 3rd...
2nd (believe it or not) Verizon....and 1st...(this stumped me) Sprint.
