iPhone, Converting movie files

Since the iPhone won't play windows media files, how do you convert one to a format it will play?
Apple iPhone movieApple iPhone movie

I use Evom on the Mac, but I believe you can use Handbrake on either Mac or Windows to convert from one format to what the iPhone needs.

http://handbrake.fr/

-----

Depending on what I'm converting I either use Handbrake (larger files) or EasyWMV (smaller files)

-----

There are several DVD to iPhone rippers available on freewarefiles.com. The work really well. The only problem I have is with TV series DVD's, it rips all of the episodes into one file. But that is not too bad to deal with.

-----

Which download from freewarefiles.com do you suggest? I'm not sure which ones allow you to convert files.

-----

Freemake video converter. Does what it is supposed to do without a lot of hassle:

http://www.freewarefiles.com/Freemake-Video-Converter_program_58281.html

Now for my legal disclaimer - only use it to make legal copies of movies you own.

-----

To play DivX or Xvid movies (.avi) on the iPhone the best is the CineXplayer...it can even handle .SRT dubtitles...

Just drag and drop the .avi files in to the app on the iTunes and it uploads to the iphone quickly...

To convert several type of videos files, I use Xilisoft video converter 6...works perfectly..

iPhone Video App

I am looking for an iPhone app that will give me the best possible video while bike riding. Anyone know of one that uses the anti-shake equipment built in the iPhone?

Try Camera+ from tap tap tap

-----

What "anti-shake equipment built in the iPhone" do you mean?

-----

Steady lens. You can try it for free 15 second clips. Or if you like it buy it.

-----

Thank you all, I will try these apps. I even think I have Camera Plus on my phone. I didn't know it did video.

Video slowdown

Apple iPhone - Video slowdown

I have a 3GS iPhone. Lately video download has slowed way down or simply stops at random. For example, You Tube is now just about useless. Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

I am still using OS 4.1 because my MacMini is still running 10.4.11. (I plan to upgrade to 10.6 soon.)

I haven't made any changes to the phone or my wifi hookup. I can't imagine what's wrong.

iPhone VideoApple iPhone video

When the video on my 4 is super slow sometimes I turn off my 3G and use Edge.

-----

I would say it is the network not the iPhone.

-----

It seems to happen no matter what I use: wifi, 3G. My macmini is connected to the same network and shows no speed variation.

Another person suggested I restore the phone then use backup to return content. Never did that before so it scares me a bit. Would I connect to iTunes, backup as usual then hit restore? After that I'm not sure how to get the backup content on the phone again. I know this must be really basic. But if someone could point me in the direction of where I'd find the exact procedure I'd be very grateful.

-----

A quick Google search found this Apple support file: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

-----

Check out this video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imMZKvl8BTQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

-----

I had made these assumptions about your post when I made my reply.

1- You are streaming a video, rather than downloading it to your iPhone.

2- I assumed you were using either Edge or 3G, but WiFi it would not matter.

Either way, I think problem is with the network or the server that you are getting the video from, and not the iPhone. Speeds vary by time of day, day of the week and time of the year.

If it is a popular YouTube video, their server could be overloaded.

If it is all videos all the time, then I would do the a restore.

Apple iPhone Video - Shot video with my iPhone 4 and then uploaded...How can this be true?

I shot a video with my iPhone 4 and then uploaded, unmodified, to FaceBook using the Facebook iPhone App. Now when I try to play it using the same iPhone and app I get " Sorry, this video can't be viewed because it is I'm a format not supported by this device.".

FaceTime users

Apple iPhone Video Chat - Any FaceTime users out there?

Looking to test out Apples FaceTime feature with some people... Let me know :)

iPhone FaceTime
Apple iPhone Facetime
To do Facetime with a stranger would require that you give them your phone number. Do you really want to do that. It does not sound safe to me.

-----
Actually since Facetime launched on the iPod Touch and the beta for Macs/OS X you can use e-mail addresses (Apple / iTunes ID) or a phone #.

http://www.apple.com/mac/facetime/

In fact if you have a mac and an iPhone 4 (or iPod Touch 4) or an iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch 4 you can "FaceTime" yourself to test and play with it...

-----
I totally agree, I'm not a fan of giving out my number for every one to see.... I did some research and found a site that claims to connect facetime users safely called "facetimebff". Funny name right? Anyway it seems legit so I signed up and made a profile, looks like they have a decent amount of users so far, me thinks they must be pretty new. So if you guys wanna join and contact me through there then we can test out facetime!

-----
Call Apple to test out Facetime. They created a number just for people like you that want to test it out with complete strangers.

The number is (888) 322-3846

-----
I just bought a MacBook. Does facetime work on it?

-----
If you install the beta -

-----
Can anyone tell me what is facetime ?

Video chat.

iPhone video
facebook profile page apple iphone video
You already can.

-----
The current FaceBook app uploads video to FaceBook just fine. I have done it several times from my iPhone 4.

-----
When i click on a video i do not get the option to upload to facebook so if you dont mind could you tell me how you do it.

I made a video with my iphone 4 and cant figure out how to upload it to facebook using the phone.

-----
1) open the FB App.
2) Tap the camera icon next to status update.
3) That brings up a menu. From that menu select upload video. That opens a
window with your videos.
4) Select one
5) Add your coments & tap upload.

Converting iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 videos to AVI

Apple iPhone Video - Converting iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 videos to AVI

I had an iPhone 3gs and now have a iPhone 4.

The MOV videos with the iPhone 4, I use OJOsoft Total Video Converter to convert the videos to AVI using MJPEG conpression. My Canon camera makes MOV files too. Thou it cam with software that converts the video to AVI with MJPEG compression. This software is called ZoomBrowser EX.

The ZoomBrowser EX will not convert the video from either the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 3GS properly. Missing audio us usually the problem.

I cannot get video from my iPhone 3GS to be coverted properly. Both iPhones are running 4.1 firmware.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

iPhone Video
Converting 3Gs 4 to AVI Apple iPhone Video
I usually use adobe premiere to load and edit and save it as whatever format you like.

But if you need only for conversion, then i think ALLOK's mov convertor is good. I never had problems with 3Gs and now iPhone 4.
