iPhone, Mophie Charge

Few weeks ago I got a Mophie Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 4. The curious thing is it takes forever to charge.

I leave it charging (on USB or on the wall, does not matter) all night and in the morning the third LED still blinking.

so I have to leave charging for another 3~4 hours to get all the 4 LEDs to light...and that is not due to the extra current it provides...

I have a cheap battery case that does almost the same job (mophie gives me around 110% charge while the cheap one gives me around 95%) and gets full charge in 3 hours or so. I can leave both phone and case empty at night and in the morning both are fully charge...I was expecting that with the mophie but it is not happening.

If you have a mophie, have you noticed anything like that?

I had the same issue with one my Juice Packs and all I had to do is contact Mophie and they sent a postage paid box to send it to them in. Within a week I had another one. Their customer service is great!

-----

Two things, I would fully charge and discharge it maybe 7-10 times to see if that helps, if it still does this then I would say it is defective, to be sure try and charge through the USB port on a computer in addition to a wall-charger or vice versa - if you are using the iPhone power brick it is rated only for the iPhone not the iPhone (1500 mAh) and a 2000mAh battery case.

I have bought the JP Air with each phone change and my the JP Air 4 had to be replaced after 8 months it was not charging, Mophie has EXCELLENT customer service and support and replaced it without question - the NEW one had an issue similar to what you mentioned (would quickly discharge and took longer to recharge than the one it replaced) but after a couple weeks it was working like the first one.

iPhone, Mophie juice pack plus

I got my new Mophie juice pack plus for my iPhone 4. A friend in America bought it for me and had it sent over. But after I put it on my phone, it's not charging the way it should! It starts charging then goes off on it's on, then after few minutes comes back on it's own. I don't understand what's happening! I have another like this from a different company but that works fine! Can anyone help on this?

Apple iPhone MophieApple iPhone Mophie

I just got a Mophie pack plus also, and when it is empty and I plug on my USB HUB, the computer shuts off the port, saying there is too much current drain...

Only one of my usb ports allow me to charge it from zero without shutting down.

I believe it is due to the larger battery capacity built in...and also takes forever to charge...

I have also another case/battery from another company and works without issues.

Try different ports/computers to charge it and see what happens...

-----

I just ordered the "plus". I'm planning on using the the USB wall charger to charge it. I think that should provide enough power to charge it without problems.

Has anyone else done this? And if so, how does it behave?

-----

Thanks for your response! The problem is not when charging via the USB. It's when I use the phone. Shuts off and comes on, on it's own! One minute it's charging next moment it's not. It's driving me crazy!

-----

My old one used to do that when mophie was almost dead.

-----

That worries me since I just ordered one. Have you tried their tech support yet?

-----

No I have not! Thanks I will try the tech support and see what they have to tell.

-----

I just put the USB to micro USB into my iPhone's wall plug. I take the iPhone's white cord out of the USB port and plug the Mophie cord into that.

Mophie 6000 belt holster

Apple iPhone - Mophie 6000 belt holster

If you have an otterbox for your iphone 4 and you do not like the clip style holster there is one nice alternative that I found out by accident.

I have a leather holster that I ordered from mophie for my juice pak air. It's the model 6000

It holds your otterbox defender perfectly.

iPhone Mophie
Apple iPhone Mophie
I thought about getting it, but it has a spring clip that does not lock to my belt as the Otter box clip does. I have lost phones with spring clips before.

-----
I used to work around heavy equipment and climb 230 foot towers and I have only dropped a phone twice with a belt clip in 5 years. Both times it caught on the seatbelt leaving my pickup, because I wear it on the left side. Now this is with a chromed belt clip. This is the holster I use with my 2 year old iPhone, that has never been dropped. I think it was the antenna on the Treo that was catching.

Since the Mophie uses a leather covered metal slip. Take it to a shoe repair and for less than $5 and have them stitch it into a belt loop. You will probably have it done and walk out in minutes. Of course the hard part will be finding a shoe repair shop, but you won't drop your phone or holster.

-----
How does the model 6000 attach to your belt? Does it use a belt clip? I'm always concerned about it slipping up and off my belt.

-----
Got a better option, go to AMAZON and get the Treo 650 holster, and they have not only the belt clip, there are some models with LOOPS too. Thread your belt through the loops, no worries.

-----
Or for those who jeans and not slacks, go find a CLC cell holster, made of ballistic nylon with elastic side panels. They last many years and stretch to fit phones up to about 5.5" tall. It has a metal belt clip, on top of a 1.5 wide nylon loop. CLC makes tool bags and tool belts so look in hardware stores.

One caution, if the phone or case is painted plastic or has that rubbery coating, the holster will rub it off the phone with long use. The edging on the holster wore off the paint on my Treo 650 around the "ear piece" after 3 years.

I use a Griffin Elan case with leather on my iPhone and after about 2 years I see no wear from the holster.

Mophie juice pack in belt case

Apple iPhone - Mophie juice pack in belt case

My brother has an iPhone3 and has requested a Mophie Juice pack and a belt case that will hold his iPhone in the Mophie Juice pack for his birthday next week. Does anybody know which belt cases will be big enough?

iPhone Case
Apple iPhone Case
Look at the belt cases made by Mophie for this purpose. There are three of slightly different styles numbered as 5000, 5500, and 6000. I have used the 5000 for over a year and a half and love it. It has a magnetic closure that keeps it closed even when the whole case/phone/JuicePackAir is dropped (done this several times). Just decide which of the three styles you or he prefers.

-----
Thank you so much. I wanted to make sure I got him something he will like.
:)

-----
Also. I have found best buy has a great selection on oversized belt carriers.

I say oversized cause I has the plastic shell on my 3G and normal iPhone belt holders were too small.

Best buy had more

Mophie

Apple iPhone - Mophie

Well I've owned my Mophie for the iPhone 4 now for 2 weeks.

It works well but I can not understand why when the phones battery is charged to 100% with the Mophie why it doesn't last as long as when The phone is charged to 100% with power adapter.

It almost seems like it lasts just half as long.

If I charge my phone with the Mophie my phone won't last as long as it does if I charge it with a power cord ..

iPhone Mophie
Apple iPhone Mophie
I'm not following you, how does the phone last less with a battery on it than without a battery on it? Unless you mean you are using the Mophie to charge the phone. Technically, there are 3 ways to use it (or any battery case).

1 (what I do) Start day with both fully charged, have Mophie turned on (switch to screen) so that iPhone stays at 100% and has the plugged in/fully charged logo and you are using Mophie power - this lasts me all day (I get at least 12 hours if not longer) and my Mophie still has 1 or 2 lights and iPhone never gets used - heavier use will use more power and the Mophie might get used up and then you will start using iPhone's internal battery (power plug icon will go away and 100% will go down as you use it.

2. (most instructions) - Mophie fully charged, iPhone at 100% or less and you use your iPhone until you get to 20% or less then you switch Mophie on and it charges iPhone back up and while it is charging the internal battery you are also pulling power using the phone so even though it is 1500mAh it might not last as long since it is powering the phone and charging the battery

3 (combination) - leave the Mophie turned off when phone is locked/asleep so it is not being used and when you use phone turn Mophie on so that you keep internal battery charged and draw power from Mophie for use.

or I guess a 4th, which is to use the phone until it is completely dead then put (or turn) the Mophie On and it acts like it is being plugged in.

Mophie's $80 Juice Pack Air ships to iPhone 4 owners

Apple iPhone - Mophie's $80 Juice Pack Air ships to power-hungry iPhone 4 owners

My, how far we've come. Believe it or not, Mophie's Juice Pack pack is in its seventh generation of product development, with the latest 'Air' supporting Apple's polarizing iPhone 4. For those unaware, these cases nearly double the battery life of the phone they're wrapped around, and better still, it acts as protection against drops and dropped calls.

Fancy that! This little guy is said to provide up to six extra hours of 3G talk time, 36 hours of bonus audio playback or nine hours of video playback. It's shipping now, just like we said, to those willing to part ways with $79.95, and it's available in any color you want, so long as it's black.

I was thinking I wouldn't need a juice pack anymore once I get the iPhone 4? How's the battery life?

-----
The battery life on the Iphone is great. I don't have to charge it nearly as often as I did my 3gs. I just like knowing I have the extra battery if I need it and the Mophie product is an excellent accessory to have around.

-----
I have no need for a juice pack, but then, I didn't with my 3G, either....

-----
I have never gone thru a full charge on my iPhone 4 in a single day (unplug before I leave home and have 25-60% left when I get home). But not having to remember to charge every day, preserving charge cycles, and having a fairly protective case all in one is worth it. Since $29 apple case was refunded I look Mophie only costing $50

-----
Mine is plugged in, charging, overnight, but in addition, may sit in a charge in the car if my errands are longer.

With regard to that, the case I am using at present, and likely to continue using, is the InCase version provided by the "Apple Bumper Program", and it is the ONLY case I have found to date with which I can STILL place the iPhone 4, IN its case, into the TomTom Car Kit dashboard mount.

Place a small piece of corrugated cardboard between the case and the back of the kit, at the bottom, and the power switch is triggered, so the kit's features all works as they did with the 3G.

-----
So long as it's black I love that lol

-----
I can't believe I'm buying another one but they are just great! Now I'll really be set if I'm traveling or what-not. I like it that this model uses the juicepack before the Iphone battery and that it turns itself off if not being used.

-----
I found as I also have an iPad, I barely use the iPhone 4 at all.

If I do need to worry about batteries, I have the FastMac IV case was for 3G/3GS and a naked iPhone 4 fits beautifully in there.

OK, It is not an attractive case, but you can't argue 'if it ain't broke...'

Mophie Juice Pack Air

Apple iPhone - Mophie Juice Pack Air: coming to double your iPhone 4 battery.

Mophie Juice Pack for your iPhone 4 will be available as soon as next week for $79.

We even managed to get hands on with a prototype that looked and felt pretty tight considering the fact that it doubles the iPhone's non-removable battery.

mophie juice pack air
Apple iphone Mophie juice pack air The Juice Pack Air features pass-through USB charging and sync with iTunes, an integrated 4 LED charge status, and a standby switch the shuts off the juice turning the appendage into a rather attractive (albeit, heavy with a 1500mAh capacity battery), soft-grip case.
