Scramble CE - very slow

Apple iPhone - Scramble CE - very slow

Any one use Scramble CE by Zynga? When I select Challenge and go to the page that lists previous and pending games, my iPhone4 starts the white spinning wheel and then is busy for upwards of a minute. This happens virtually all the time with my and my wife's phones. It didn't use to be that way. We do have a lot of 'old' games listed and we're thinking this is a problem with the Zynga server. We don't know how to delete this unneeded history, if that is the cause.

We have deleted the Scramble game from iTunes and our iPhones, then redownloaded it and reinstalled it.

No difference.

I posted a question at the Zynga user forum but it's not very active and no one responded.

We like the game but this 1 min. wait is a real turn-off.

I dont know the game, but on words with friends you just swipe on the name of the finished game and you can delete. Just like deleting email.

-----
I use it and just tried mine and it worked fine so maybe it is the long history of old games. I use a 3GS on iOS 4.1 so maybe it's an iPhone 4 specific issue?

-----
I've had problems w/Scrabble the past couple of days too so I'm guessing it's a Scrabble issue.

App recs

Apple iPhone - App recs

I'm going to see my grandsons ages 7 and 9. They love to play with my iPhone. I'd like to download a game or two for them--interesting but not too hard or easy.
Recommendations, anyone?

iPhone Game Apple iPhone Game Doodle Jump
Bike Rider
Sheep Launcher

Angry Birds ( a little harder)

-----
No idea on if these are still free or not, but my six year old likes these and they'll probably be fun still for 7 and 9 yr olds. I'll put 7 or 9 after it to let you know about what age the app is more likely for.

- Sparky the dog 7
- Pocket God 7/9
- Rat on the Run 7/9
- Balloonacy 7
- Scoops 7/9
- Tux Rider 7/9
- Totemo 9
- Trace 9
- Alien Booth 7/9
- Train Conduct 9
- Tiki Totems 9
- FantasyLens 7/9
- Photophunia 7/9
- Jellycar 9

My six year old plays or has played all of these on her iPhone. Some with more coaching than others. She catches on pretty quick but lacks the higher problem solving abilities and timing that Trace, Jellycar and Totemo sometimes require. That doesn't stop her from trying though.

-----
If they are grandsons;

- Moto GP (50 MB but free motorcycle game) (My 9 years old nephew liked it a lot)
- FS5 Hockey (one of favorites in itunes)
- Train Conduct (Helps to kids in matching the numbers; in the long run it may be boring)
- Cut the rope (a problem solving game but maybe a little bit complicated for that age... just try)

There are several car racing games but i do not know which one is the best.. Most of them may be suitable for that age...

-----
Blue Block Free or unblock me free and tumble blocks lite are good puzzle games that my granddaughters like and they are 7 and 10. Challenging for them.

-----
Talking Tom, its fun for any age!

I have boys - 5, 8, and 11. They like Plants vs. Zombies, Uno, Bejeweled, and Ragdoll Blaster (our current favorite - we have the free first version and the payed second version). Lego Creationary has just come out (and it's free), but I haven't tried it out yet. My rule is that they have to do a set of math flash cards before they can play a game. I use Flash To Pass Lite where they can practice, + -
x / facts.

The only problem is they want to play with my phone all of the time! I don't like to give it up ;-).

Phone thinks headphones are plugged it

Apple iPhone - Phone thinks headphones are plugged it

My wife is having a problem with her iPhone 4. It is acting as if the headphones are plugged in when they aren't. She can only hear a phone call if she has the headphones plugged in. If she removes them, she can't hear the call. She can speak and be heard, but she can't hear the person on the other side. We rebooted several times to no avail. Plugged in and unplugged the headphones several times. Made a reservation at the genius bar for tomorrow morning, but I was hoping maybe someone here had an idea.

You can try doing a Restore in iTunes but it sounds like a hardware issue unless there is a Bluetooth device that is pairing and you don't realize it...

-----
Mine just did that yesterday. What a coincidence! In my case, it turned out to be an aluminum chip from work. (I'm a machinist) Carefully prodding it with a toothpick dislodged it for me.

-----
This may not be the same in iPhones, but it is a pretty common problem on Palm phones.

It is often (not always, evidently) caused by a glitch in the Pandora software. Does she use Pandora, or other "radio"-type software? If so -- enter that app, and start playing something. Plug the earphones in and out -- it might take a few tries. Exit the program. See if that works -- if not, I'll look up more solutions from the Palm forums. I believe there have been several different processes needed to cure it for different Palm owners.

Good puzzle games for the iPhone?

Apple iPhone - Can anyone recommend any good puzzle games for the iPhone?

I've been playing XStream Tap for a while now. I just picked up a new release called First Stone, that's kind of cool, if your into Dr. Mario and Puyo stile games, free too...

What kind of puzzle are you looking for -- words, shapes, colors, mystery-solving, role playing, adventure,.... I don't know any of those games you mention.

-----
Try Hoggy or Bobby 1. Gets more difficult as you go.

-----
Try some of these games/puzzles: Bix, Words with Friends, Tesserae, Glow Puzzle, Glass Tower 2, Cash Cow, Word Freak, Romi, and Orbium. They are all pretty fun and challenging. Many have a lite version to try them or are free.

What is Game Center

Apple iPhone - What is Game Center

Last night I downloaded the 10.1 system (I think that's the latest), and left my phone plugged in to the computer overnight. When I got on the phone this morning, there is an app for "Game Center" on the main screen - not pushed to the third screen like new apps typically do.

What is it? Am I missing something? I checked out the app, and it looks like mostly paid games that I don't need.

That's what it is. It's an app if you are a gamer. It allows you to compete against others around the world and see how your scores compare against them.

I don't think you can delete the app, but you can move it out of your mains.

Perhaps hide it in a folder of unwanted stuff.

-----
It's a social network game system.

I stashed it in one of my 'game' folders but have no intention of setting up an account; I don't do any online/multiplayer games. I like quickie solitaire or puzzle type games.

New Firmware for 3GS - Where Are My Apps

Apple iPhone - New Firmware for 3GS - Where Are My Apps

When I installed the latest firmware yesterday, Apple deleted all my purchased apps. Only their own default apps are now there, including one piece of Malware named Game Center.

How do I get all the purchased apps back? There were 84 of them, and all have disappeared. Snyc does NOT do it.

Do I have to restore, and where is that?

Sync and they should all come back.

-----
I've done this repeatedly and it doesn't happen.

-----
Did you check on the sync page under apps and see if the Sync Apps box is checked. It is at the top of the page.

-----
That has been done long ago and remains checked.

-----
I just tried a sync and nothing happened. The apps will NOT install.

What happens if I "restore?"

I clicked on Restore and the warning says everything gets erased, including all media. How would I put that back - songs and other data, all the apps, etc?

-----
Game Center isn't malware, it is their new Social Gaming Network and your Apps should be in iTunes, when you plug in your phone click on it in the device list then click on the Apps tab, check which ones you want to sync and click Apply. If for some unknown reason you did not transfer your purchases to iTunes, when you go to them, and click "Buy" it will tell you that you already bought the app and let you download them again at no charge.

-----
Do you mean that I have to go to the App Store, one by one select each app, "buy" it, and then the system will install it? That should NOT be.

-----
No it should not be, but if you didn't sync and transfer them to iTunes on a regular basis or at all, then you are going to have to download them again.

With the iPhone plugged in, click on the name of it in the Devices list in the left hand column, then click on the Apps tab on the top (Summary, Info, Apps, Ringtones, Music, Movies, etc) - then click "Sync Apps" and check all of the apps that you want to sync then click Apply. If your apps are not in the list then you are going to have to download htem again.

-----
As I say, I've done all this and nothing happens. The apps all show up in the list on the left, all are checked, the device is there (when sync it shows am syncing mail, contacts, but nothing else), and nothing happens.

BTW, every single app was purchased (or free) through the App Store, so it should be there in iTunes - the only way to access the App Store.

-----
Purchased through the App Store *in iTunes on your computer* or through the App Store *on your iPhone*?

-----
Well, finally something happened and all the apps show up. I had to restart the Mac and do it again, but they're now all there.

Game Center

Apple iPhone iTunes - Game Center

When you go to the itunes store and click on the new game center logo, it tells you to click on and download any one of the games to play along with others.

I downloaded one but it is not in game center.

Is there a trick to this?

I think you have to actually play the game first. That's what I found out tinkering with it.
