Iphone 4 message tones

I was wondering how to change the text message tone to a simple beep. There doesn't seem to be any in the sound setting lists. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Apple iPhone ringtoneApple iPhone ringtone

In Settings > Sounds > Text Tone, you can choose from Tri-tone (the default, I think), Chime, Glass, Horn, Bell, and Electronic. No "beep", I know, but Bell is the shortest.

-----

Ios 5 has about 30 new tones in addition to those and will have a tone store in iTunes (and you can make your own as we do ring tones now)

-----

It's good to read that there will be more choice, and especially that we can make our own.

-----

I like the glass tone... it is a simple one note tone that sounds nice. I also like the chime one.

Converting Music to Ringtones

Apple iPhone MusicApple iPhoneI have a widows vista home edition lap top with an iphone 3gs running 4.1.3 ios and when i try to convert a song in itunes to a ringtone, i cant. it works fine until i try to rename the file from a .m4a to a.m4r. when looking at the file in my file folder it doesnt show a file extension. and when i try and change the song happybirthday.m4a to .m4r it changes it to happybirthdaym4r.m4a. this is getting fustrating.

Download Ringtonemaker from apple store. With that you can create ringtones from songs.

------

I use Ringtone Expressions on my computer to convert my music to ringtones. I was using Ringtonemaker, but I swiched to Ringtone Expressions. I don't remember why. Maybe it was easier to use or it had more options. I believe I convert MP3'S to ringtones. It converts renames and loads the ringtone into iTunes, and I mark them in iTunes to sych them into my iPhone. It works.

Tones and Ringtones on iPhone 4

Apple iPhone - Answer Tones and Ringtones on iPhone 4

I have had answer tones and ringtones on all my previous cellphones. I got them
through the AT@T site. This is my first iPhone and I am surprised that I can not
send answer tones or ringtones to my iPhone from AT@T. Is there a different way
to do this? Any apps maybe? Thank you in advance.

iPhone Ringtone
Apple iPhone
You can make them in iTunes (or GarageBand or any number of other programs) or you buy them in the iTunes store.

-----
Audiko.net
Search theirs or make your own. Make sure you pick the iPhone download. Save to your computer & then import into iTunes.

-----
Sorry I should have probably given a better explanation. Here is what I should gave said: audiko.net is the website for free ringtones for iPhone. if you want to search what they have enter in the box next to the ?Google search button then click that button to run the search of audiko's website. click on the one you want when the list pops up and you can sample it if you want. then look down to where it says get iPhone ringtone & it will convert it for you. then when the page changes you will have to click the download link under the song title. choose the save option when the dialogue box pops up (i created a folder just for ringtones). then when you open iTunes click file and the then add file to library and then next time you sync your phone it will be there :)

-----
I will try Audiko.net. I loved it when you were able to send the ringtones and answer tones directly to my phone. But Audiko.net seems to do be the next best thing.

Turning Volume Off

Apple iPhone - Turning Volume Completely Off

On my iPhone 4 I have Vibrate turned on. When I turn my volume all the way down I can still hear a very small amount of my ringtones and text message tones. How do I get complete silence with just vibrate without having to change my settings every time?

iPhone Ringtones
Apple iPhone Ringtones
There is a small switch above the volume buttons. This puts it in silent mode while keeping vibrate on.

-----
Duh!!! Sorry. I feel stupid. I totally forgot about that switch.

-----
Flip the switch on the top left edge down.

iPhone - Rings to Voicemail

Apple iPhone - Too Many Rings to Voicemail

How do I adjust the amount of times the phone rings before my voicemail picks up? I was told my phone rings 8 times before someone can leave me a message. I would like to adjust it to 4 rings, but how?

If you will type iPhone ring time before voicemail into Google search, you will get several sites that give full instructions.

Here is the link without the break in it.

Ringtones

Apple iPhone - Ringtones

I have searched the messages and could not find an answer to my problem, Which is I purchased two ringtones from T-Tunes and can sync to my iPhone. They show up in the iPod, Album folder but I cannot get them into the ringtone folder so I may use them as a ringtones.

iPhone Ringtone
Apple iPhone Ringtone
Where do they show in iTunes? If they are not in Ringtones they probably have the wrong filename extension. Choose one, right-click > Get Info and see what it is. It should be .m4r.

-----
Yeah. And if it's an m4a, just rename the extension to m4r.

-----
Can we create our own ringtones by changing the extension?

Lik if I have a song which I want to have as my ringtone, then can I do it by just changing the extension.

-----
Convert it to AAC (m4a) first. Then change the extension to m4r. But you have to trim it to not more than 40 seconds first.

-----
It looks like a lot of steps but it is really easy.

1. If you don't use the default import encoder, change Preferences > General > Import Settings > Import Using to AAC Encoder.

2. Choose your track and play it to decide the start and stop times. The duration can be anything up to 40 seconds.

3. Right-click > Get Info > Options to change the Start and Stop times to what you decided in (2). You can be precise to 0.001 secs if you want. Play this to make sure you've got what you want.

4. Right-click > Create AAC Version. This creates an edited version containing only what's between the Start and Stop times.

5. Right-click > Get Info > Summary to find the location of the edited version (not really necessary as it will be exactly adjacent to the original track in the iTunes Media > Music > Artist > Album folder).

6. Delete the edited version from iTunes but keep the file.

7. Navigate to the file using Finder or Windows Explorer and change the filename extension from m4a to m4r.

8. Either double-click the m4r file or iTunes > File > Add to Library to add it back to iTunes. It will go into Ringtones, not Music, and the file will move to the Ringtones folder.

9. Get Info > Options on the original track to change the Start and Stop times back to the defaults. You can do this at any point after (4).

10. Repeat 2-9 for your other ringtones.

11. Sync the phone to transfer your ringtones.

12. If you don't use the default import encoder, change Preferences >
General > Import Settings > Import Using back to your usual one.

-----
Or download the free Ringtone Maker app.

Free Ringtones from Phonezoo

Apple iPhone - Free Ringtones from Phonezoo

Just wanted to let you all know in case anyone else is interested in getting free ringtones that it is possible.

As I said in my previous msg, I use the website www.phonezoo.com to download and save ringtones that I have purchased over the years. You have the ability to upload a sound file or even create your own ringtone at this website. It provides support for a variety of phones and service carriers. You create a free profile and enter your phone type, carrier, and phone number. There are several methods for downloading these tones, but evidently only one way to get them for the iPhone.

iPhone Ringtones
Girls switch off ringtones apple iphone
Here is what I did:
Selected the option to save the ringtone to my pc desktop From my desktop, I dragged the ringtone into iTunes ringtone folder I attached my cables to the computer and clicked on "Melissa's iPhone"

I then clicked on the ringtones tab when the summary page came up

I put a check mark in the "sync ringtones" box and checked "all ringtones"

Then I clicked on "sync".

Once my phone synced and it was safe to disconnect I then had my 29 custom ringtones available on my iPhone (3GS and I am have not downloaded version 10 of iTunes yet). And I didn't pay a cent to phonezoo or iTunes to get them there. Just wanted to share in case anyone else is interested in using this site. I haven't tried any other sites so I don't know if this works with all sites and ringtones or not.

-----
I just went to PhoneZoo and downloaded the "In Like Flint" ringtone. I've been wanting that for years.

One thing that everyone should be very aware of... while PhoneZoo is free, all around the window are ads that take you to "pay" sites. PhoneZoo really makes you "pay" attention to what you are doing, otherwise you'll wind-up costing yourself $9.99 for a ringtone!

I mean some of these pay-ads look like they are part of PhoneZoo's site.

Bottom line... BE CAREFUL & PAY ATTENTION - or you'll pay $$$ ! ! !

Put it in iTunes Ringtone section, make sure your iPhone Device > Ringtones tap is set to sync all ringtones or at least the ones you want and click sync.

You can also create your own ringtones with your music on Itunes and then download them in your Iphone ! :-)
